So the carb on the left is what I took off. With what I believe is a mechanical secondary.

The carb on the right was given to me, has a vacuum secondary.

Now down to the question. the first carb (the one that was on my motor) is toast for sure. And the throttle setup is different as you can tell. The cable comes from the other side of the engine and has a piece that bolts on with the carb. And that piece wont fit with the vacuum thingy.

Has anyone come across this problem? Is there a solution or should I just move on?

I almost ran into that problem. I was gonna buy a carb with vacuum secondarys glad I dident. You could try to make the new one have mechinal secondarys with the parts from the old carb
