Pdx / PNW July Cruise to the Coast

For all of you in the Portland/Pacific Northwest area (and those further away looking for good a summer trip), this is the second annual event (and third time we've done a "Cruise to the Coast"). Last year I initially planned it on celica-gts.com, then included classic-celica.com and then being a board member of OTOC, put it out for everyone with any sort of Toyota product (Lexus, Scion, Yaris...). It was a huge success! We had 12 cars for the 200 mile trip, and 9 cars spent the night on the coast for a very cool party night! There were four 3rd gen Celicas (celica-gts.com) including a (1 of 4,248) vert, two Camrys, a 2nd gen Celica (who is now referred to as "driveshaft"), a Cressida, my Corona, two Corollas and a 1JZ Mk II Supra.
We had an awesome cruise on twisty country highway roads where we stopped to BBQ lunch. We then continued on to Sunset beach where we drove our cars to the surf for a photo op, then a cruise down the beautiful Oregon Coast with another photo op where those who weren't camping over night departed ways and headed home (or to a hotel to enjoy a night away from their kids), and the rest of us headed to camp.
This year, I am setting it for July 20/21, as that is the closest to a full moon over a weekend we will have - moon rise of a 91% moon will be at 7:11, and sunset is at 8:57, so it will be a well lit night for the partying around the campfire.
The camping will not cost anything, so the only expenses are fuel, food and beverages... and a donation toward firewood would be appreciated.

There are also three hotels close by the campgrounds, the closest being 1.3 miles and 3 minutes away, and they are all on the route we will be taking anyway.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], but it's cheapest room is $105, and may need a two day reservation (see website).
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] has floating houses for rent, the cheapest being $100 a night, and it is only slightly farther away from the first.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] has cabins and rooms, sleeping from two to four people, ranging from like $45 to $125 a night. It looks really cool, but is the farthest away.

Come one, come all, it'll be a great weekend!

We will be meeting up at the Sunset (Hillsboro) Fred Meyer (22075 NW Imbrie Dr. 97124) parking lot (NE corner) at 9:30 AM on 07/20/13, and departing at 10:00 07/20/13. Anyone who is running late and misses us can probably catch us at MP 29 where we'll stop for mountain spring water, or MP 28 where the restrooms are (see pic below). Otherwise, lunch will be at the Elk Viewing area on highway 212.

Please RSVP!

Last year at the rest stop:

We have 11 confirmed at this point (9 from last year, 1 more from two years ago). 1 more to match last year and it's still five months away. I'm betting on 20 minimum!

The pics like these will be CRAZY this year!

Here is the most simplified/revised map - going all of the way to the proposed camping spot. I'll post the camp site # when Tim (IIonPilgrimg from celica-gts.com) can get back to a phone, probably sometime Friday morning, but it will be somewhere along "Cook Creek Rd." as you can find on the map. I'll have exact mileage to the camp site when I get the site # as well.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

For those of you not wanting to camp overnight, where we turn off Highway 53 to head to the camp site, you can continue on Highway 53 to 26, then head east back towards Portland. This will knock off 26 miles and just over 1 hour from the route miles/time.

It would be great if all of you who are going will announce that fact here so we can get a head count!

Okay! Tim called me yesterday afternoon, and has saved us space #2, which is no more than 2.5 miles down Cook Creek Rd from where Foss Rd crosses the river. He said there is plenty of room, and a babbling brook next to it. I updated the map to have the exact distance to "Designated Dispersed Camp Site #2, Cook Creek Rd, Nehalem, OR 97131."

Also, if you have some scrap wood to burn, bring it along!!!
