1981 Corona Issues
Hey everyone,
I've just recently become the proud owner of an 81 Corona sedan. It's got a 22r with a 5-speed. There's a bit of rust, some interior degeneration and the doors either don't lock or don't open, but overall it runs pretty strong for a $800 car. I may have paid too much for it, but the way I see it, the margin of error bellow 1 grand is pretty generous.
I've been wanting to get into working on cars for a while now and though this would provide a pretty good doorway into the subject.
That being said, I've had a difficult time finding any sort of specific information regarding T130 anatomy. I probably wouldn't worry and just begin with engine stuff except that, whenever I drive between 50 and 70 mph, I can feel fairly strong vibrations coming from the back of the car. Below 50 and above 70, though, it runs pretty smooth. Should I be worried about the drive train, differential or something else back there? Are there any known issues with symptoms similar to my car's?
Thanks!

Welcome to vc. Some pics would be great lol.. for your problem I would check the tire balance then check if there isn't anythingg bent in the rear end.. u can lift the car sit it on jacks and rotate the tires manually

Ok, here's what she looks like. Funny thing, though: about a week after I got the car, I drive it home only to find that the right tail light missing and the back bumper slightly askew. Either the bumper was warped before I go the car (which I didn't notice) and the tail light just happened to fall out or someone somehow managed to hit the right, back end of the car while I was parked on the right side of the street in a long line of other parked cars. Go fig. Also, that thing hanging down off the left side of the steering wheel is a non-functional cruise-control the previous owner installed.

Yes, they are glued in. I've lost two corner lens that way. I have another set that I've soaked in hot water to get the lens off. I'm trying to get all of the factory adhesive off so I can epoxy them back on.advawaits wrote:I drive it home only to find that the right tail light missing... the tail light just happened to fall out...

I was going to say the same thing. I have a bad one now, but I know it'll get worse before it goes bye-bye.
