Im trying to keep the same ride height I have now (the front suspension has no springs)

I heard of Corolla Wagon guys putting in AE86 Coilovers in is it possible with this chassis?

From what I understand alot of the older chassis can take hilux springs. Im guess thats the corona counterpart. Measure your springs and check the dimensions against the same year hilux, crown, mark 2, and cressida (hilux and cressida are going to be the most commonly found). I bet one of those will be a match.

If your looking for coilover...just make custom ones. Find the right coilover sleeves that fit your strut housing then find some coilover springs with the stiffness you want and cut and weld that shit.
I sold this car to him.

It's currently completely bottomed out on stock struts with no springs installed. The bumpstops are custom and they're about 1 1/2" shorter than stock.

For the front he is going to need much shorter struts and coilover sleeves if he wants to retain this ride height/go any lower. Front suspension setup is similar to an AE corolla and MX cressida in that the axle shaft and strut are a single unit.

Ideally he's looking for something to bolt in but I was always too cheap to purchase an off the shelf or readimade unit for this car.

As for the rear of the car, it's blocked over 5 1/2 inches. It's pretty retarded as it because you scrape u-bolt pretty often even though the car is nowhere near scraping subframe.

I loved this car, but all the modifications were free for me and I had dreams of doing it right when time/money caught up. It really just needs a minitruck style 4-link in the rear and to have some of the shelf weld-on coils similar to what a few people on the forum have had to do for e34s for the fronts.

But... He just doesn't really have the means to do this kind of balls-out fabrication (No offense, Jeff), so he's looking for something bolt-on or easily adaptable.
thats what the previous owner did to the wagon

EDIT:

The last car I owned was a AE86 hatch and I know for sure that some guys were using mr2 (shorter of course) strut housing with tokico struts with short springs (cut if you have to).

So with that I assume there should be good counter part for the rona wagon....maybe a camry wagon or a cressy wagon (just for load tolerance, gotta be safe right? Wink ). While your at it, might as well upgrade your chassis bushings.

For the rear I would loose some of that drop block and get your leafs reset. If you get them redone you can have them lowered with a 10% ride decrease, which is really good in terms of lowering cars. I do agree on getting a four link in terms of racing the mofo, but thats a lot of work just to have rear macpherson struts.

Keep the leafs maybe throw on a ma67 celica supra rear dif, and spend that fab time on cutting shit off it to support leafs.

Just a few thoughts

Front- your strut housings are the most desirable as they have the better brakes, and have options to adapt bigger (research hilux 4x4 calipers and puegot discs)

Other strut housings might fit but that is not really the point. You could research fitting some custom strut inserts that are shorter than the usual MR-2 struts

Rear- While I am not a minitruck expert I would look into having the rear leafs reset. I also met a guy with a corona wagon that just got a complete hilux leaf set from the junkyard and replaced some and kept some and removed one.

Anyway being lower than low is totally awesome and I support you. Just keep in mind something else will wear out or break when you do get it that low.

hilux pretty much is what toyota trucks are called everywhere but the US.

Just look for the 2wd version around the age of your car. pirat
