72 mk2 mx22 2dr from Cali
I'm a new owner from coarsegold California & I just stumbled on a 72 mk2 mx22 2 dr ht sitting in a field in the mountains not too far from where I live by accident. I was on the hunt for a 75 Datsun 610(which is very similar to a corona) that turned out to be a complete basket case. Then that's was when I was shown the Toyota corona mk2 mx22.
I was stoked being able to recue such a jewl that has been sitting since 1980. It needs a few parts that might be difficult but not impossible to locate. I'm going to try & get some pics up.

Thats awesome to see more coronas getting restored and back on the road.
as far as the forum its hard to keep people to continue contributing, I am actually looking for help with the forum; for a while I was giving away decals and putting a lot of effort to get the forum running.

Re: 72 mk2 mx22 2dr from Cali
parts are hard to come by, it is sometimes easier to buy a parts car. Australia has a lot of cars check out fb page "rt80 rt81 toyota corona owners"
Re: 72 mk2 mx22 2dr from Cali
I found someone who has all the parts I need, getting the money together so I can take a ride to go get them. I really want to get the mx22 back on the road, the car has sick lines & imo is a good looking car! Plus I like to drive something that is a little rare.
if you need help with the forum pm me & let me know how I can help.

I definitely love the body styling of the coronas and early Toyota's. interesting history behind it, early Toyota's/toyopet were made to resemble muscle cars but would have better mpg and easy maintenance. Since they were introduced after the world war II the Japanese market took a dump Toyota introduced the toyopet line to export to the US. Ill definitely pm you

Has my local locksmith make me a key from my pass side door lock & finally opened my trunk! I found some things in their that I wasn't expecting... my missing eyebrow mounding for the drivers side, a head, valve cover, intake, radiator shroud & some misc. parts. Cars is a little rough from sitting but pretty straight & minimal rust. Going to get busy on it soon when weather allows.

Well I scored the nearly impossible, the back windshield, hood & 1/4 window for my mx22. Oricles hooked me up! He has all the parts I needed & some extra.

Starting to look a better little by little. Getting ready to move it close to my small shop so I can get busy on it.
I'll start a build thread when I get going on it, can't wait:) I have a few projects going on at the same time so progress is slower than I would like.

Where rust is bad is on the trunk.. rest of the car is solid. If I can't find one I'll have to re-skin it.

Give it a few months, you probably won't recognize the car.. I'm working on four cars at the same time so progress is not as fast as I'd like but I'm prioritizing..

I can't wait till the day I can drive the car on its own power! I love bringing classic cars back to life! Just got a 510 wagon back on the road and it is my DD. Now it's the mx22 corona & a 73 rx3 goon that are next. I also have a 64 nova ss that going through a complete restoration. I've had several motors in it, now it's time for the ls3, DSE subframe, mini tub. I have everything, just need more time.... lol. I have four cars going on at the same time... time to prioritize! So progress is slow but it's going..

Re: 72 mk2 mx22 2dr from Cali
I've had the 64 nova ss for close to 25yrs, the 68 camaro for about 14yrs, 65 chevelle conv. for 8yrs.
The 510 goon about 7 months & the mx22 & rx3 wagon close to 5 months. I picked up the corona & rx3 in the same place. I've had a lot of classic cars... this is what I have left that I want to keep. I have a few people that have been persistently after the rx3 goon, almost sold it but still hanging onto it.
